Hunter 260 -
Please don't laugh. I purchased a 260 water ballast hunter with a take down mast. I have raised the mast with not to much trouble. Thank you to all that have responded to my call for help on raising the mast.

When I let out my jib and I wish to roll the jib back up, it doesn't want to roll up again. I am not that sharp with the sail terminology I am sorry about that. What am doing wrong?
Thank you for any help you can offer.
Regards,
Geri

If your 260 is like mine, it came equipped with a CDI jib roller furler. You should have a small diameter furling line leading from the spool to the cockpit. When you pull on the sheets to unfurl the jib, this line will wind onto the spool. To re-furl the jib, you need to release the sheet and pull on the furling line. CDI has a user manual on their web site for download. Google CDI for the link.

BobSail is correct and you should check the owner's manual.

I have to rethink this every spring when I put my sails back on. The furler drum should have only one or two turns of the furler line on it when the jib is fully rolled up. As you let out the jib to sail, more line becomes wrapped around the drum and you should then have enough line to roll the jib back up by pulling on the line. With practice, you should be able to adjust the amount of line on the drum so it has the right amount and does not become crowded or bind.
With the jib fully rolled up, you can detach your jib sheets and then turn the entire rolled jib by hand to adjust the amount of line on the drum.

If you find that the furling line..

...is too thick and occupies too much space on the drum you can remove the core of the double braided line up to the drum and save space which will also make furling easier. Leave the remaining core in the line that never sees the drum.
