How to Refinish 1986 Pearson 303 cabin veneer

During a harsh winter the deck plates which penetrate the cabin and fasten to bulkheads leaked water. I need to find out how to restore veneer in the vicinity of the penetrating plate. The veneer seems to be covered with a brownish finish (doesn't appear to be waterproof). The water took the finish off. I would like to match the finish. It looks like some colored finish must have been applied. Does anyone know how I might get the old color back for the areas that have been damaged?

Over the years the brownish bead molding around the bulkheads has deteriorated. Does anyone know how this could be replaced? It seems to rubbery with a brownish vinyl coating and is about 3/8" in diameter. It also may have been wedged between the deck and the bulkheads.

Otherwise, the boat is in good condition for a 1986 model 303.

Try some furniture polish spray on the wood. I spray it on a rag an then rub it in. I scraped out all that brown bead crap and glued some double braided line in there. If the gap gets too wide, just bunch the line up to fill it.

The wood is too dark for just furniture polish, but the double braided line sounds good.
