What is the best way to publish a boat listing on multiple marketplaces without duplicate work?

Hire someone? Unfortunately, no such platform exists to the best of my knowledge. I've had good luck with Sailboat Owners classified, Sailboatlistings, sailing texas and craigslist

Write the description and equipment list in a word processing program. Go to the site and copy and paste the information.

If the boat is below a certain price point, you won't benefit much by posting to multiple listings. You will only attract local buyers. So, there's not much point in posting on more than about 2-3 platforms.

If the boat is above a certain price point, you'll do well to just hire a good broker and then it isn't your problem.

In the middle, between those price points, the answer is that there isn't a great answer.

I was approached several years ago to see if I was interested in developing a platform that would let brokers do exactly this - manage listings across multiple platforms. I declined, partially because I discovered that the major platforms actively didn't want this.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking there has to be an easier way and wondering why some kind of platform to help with that doesnt exist. I came across EasyMLS Have you ever heard of it? Wondering if it's worth a try

Easy MLS appears to be oriented towards brokers, not individuals although buried in the fine print, individuals can list boats for 29 euros a month. Much of that fee would be wasted by advertising in places where you are unlikely to find a buyer for your boat, I doubt someone in Germany is looking to buy a small boat in the US.

Are you affiliated with EasyMLS? I can't say whether it is worth a try or not.

When I evaluated whether to take on building something, my assessment was that a lot of people are trying to inject themselves into high-end transactions to get a piece of them. I think a good broker adds some value to the transaction, but for the most part, they just siphon money out without really adding much net benefit. I just didn't want to participate in creating another middle man.

I get the value proposition of such a service and, at face value, it seems like a good idea. In reality, they mostly just generate noise. True, you can post more widely, but then so can everyone else. I am not sure the seller benefits at all. I expect the pros and cons are about a wash.

Now, if you are selling something very specific, for which the market is very limited, casting a wide net might be beneficial to the seller. But, in those cases I would expect that brokers have existing ways to track down something specific for an interested buyer. Any current/former brokers have insight into that process? This was all explained to me years ago, but I don't recall. And, things change.
