How to paint my boat

OK, I am preping my 1977 catalina 22 for new paint. I have stripped all the hardware and will start the sanding process. I plan to use the interlux topsides paint with a sprayer application. Can anyone tell me how may coats to apply and how to wet sand the finish? I have heard to use 1500 grit wet sanding sandpaper. Also, how do I sand teh textured parts of the deck? I will not be able to use the palm sander. I have heard to use soething called scotchbrite. What is scotchbrite andwere do I get it?

Any advice is well needed.

Don't know about the painting part but I think the scotchbright reference is to scotchbright pads like you use for cleaning dishes & etc. I think they come in various sizes and abrasiveness ratings. E.G. you wouldn't want the ones for cleaning a BBQ grill.
