how to lock my rudder while under way

I have a 1983 C22 with the stock non kick up rudder. There seems to be no way on securing the rudder onto the boat. I'm thinking some kind of pin or quick release...
What am I missing? I don't want the rudder falling off while underway.

On my C25, one of the pintles had a hole drilled through the bit that extended out of the Grugeon which I would put a spring lock pin through.

My '72 just uses the weight of the rudder to keep it in. Haven't had any issues with it so far.

good news is the rudder floats (learned the hard way). But the upper pintel has an eye in it to accommodate a cotter pin or other securing method.

I found something similar to this at Westmarine. It works well. I still tie a short safety line around the pintle and through the rubber hinge with 550 cord For piece of mind.
