Several years ago we used polyglow on our O'day 272 LE with the grey hull. Looked really good for a couple of years....then really bad....we did our best to remove the polyglow two years ago and succeeded on the starboard side, but not so well on the port. Hired a
gentleman to was and polish the boat last year and it looked great where the polyglow was successfully removed but pretty bad on the port side. Here's my question...
I know there is a poly glow product to remove the poly glow and we tried that once but
it was not very successful....the last time we used a floor stripper and it worked well but not so great on port....we want to know what are people using to successfully remove the old poly glow.....and what special tools should I take to the lake with me to begin the work? Thanks for any suggestions. Spring is coming! Pat

Try Poliglow stripper

Had my yard guys completely strip the old Poliglow from my 302 a few years back. Worked well. But as I recall, I bought more than recommended as per the instructions and the yard guys told me they used all of the stripper.

Maybe it just need a bit more product to work?

Polyglo is just acrylic floor polish with a UV block added. I use Ace Hardware Acrylic Floor polish not the urethane, the acrylic. Cost is about $20 gal. To strip it off I use Ace Hardware floor stripper, an aggressive base, also about the same cost. The instructions for stripping (horizontal floors) are to dilute, I forget the ratio, but that does not work well on my hull, maybe it is because my hull is vertical and therefore the stripper runs off. I use the stripper full strength, may take two coats but not much work you just apply it with a sponge mop.

The stripper is called Poly Prep. Also ammonia works just fine. It comes off with almost no effort.

Ditto with Poly Prep and ammonia (wear a respirator unit). After doing my boat, careful compound with a midly aggressive paste did the job, followed by a good wax job. Every Spring I compound with a light liquid compound and then buff and she stays nice and shiny for the whole summer.
