Does anyone have a way to fasten the foam back cushions to the cockpit? My 98 H26 cushions factory velcro attachnents fell apart after a few years in the Gulf Coast UV. All velcro brand stuff only lasted a couple of weeks (including industrial strength) before it dusolved. I was thinking of a snap fastener of some kind - Wondering if anyone has solved this problem.

Good Question

I have yet to install them on my 95 23.5. We are thinking of making straps to go from the cushions to snaps on the top of the rail so that there is nothing sticking you in the back if the cushions are not used.

Foam or not to foam

I know those things were a pain in the butt and there were no easy solutions. I saw some folks break down and made real cushions with the snaps. The velcrow was a joke.

Question for Dave

My '94 H26 is the same way with the 3M industrial hook and loop attachment. Since mine finally wore out, I haven't replaced them yet, but was wondering what is done on the new H260's? How do they attach them now? Still the 3M, or a better approach? T J

did away with them on the 260

that pretty much sums it up

One solution

Can't take credit for this, because it was done by a previous owner. The cushions were replaced with starboard panels, cut to fit with edges rounded and screwed in place.

so what you gonna do?

i'm interested in alternatives too. our first season we left the cushions in place and the UV ate them up. so the second year we stowed the cushions after every sail and now the velcro is breaking down!?! the straps sound like a good idea but won't the cushions be "flapping in the breeze"? any other ideas folks? regards, ed

Dual Lock?

I bought some strips of 3M Dual Lock thinking it might hold up better under the sun. Not sure what the adhesive will do. But now that I have it (not yet installed) I'm afraid it takes to much pressure thru a thick cushion to get the strips to engage. May end up hanging them over the gunnels!

I tossed them

Mine were pretty much junk when I got my boat it was already 8 years old, and this was the only part that was not in great shape. On our 23.5 we don't miss them at all. We really like our spot a seats though. I think you can buy those seats on this site form Phil.
