So once open, does anyone have good tips for preserving solar flex / caulk? We always seal and cove. Does refrigerator help?

Yes, a fridge helps, a lot. A fridge is both cold (slows reaction) and very dry (water is the curing agent in Sika). Wrap/seal the tip with aluminum foil. You should be able to get at least a year, and generally several.

It will be hard to pump cold. A high ratio gun is the solution. Much better anyway.

I have a separate dorm fridge just for glues and sealants.

I bought some of these roll-on tube caps on Amazon last year. I just used the first one, so I can't say how they work. But it looks promising.
They fit very tightly.

The problem with polymer seals (including duct tape) is that polymers are gas-permeable, even more so when stretched. Note the helium leaks out of rubber balloons but NOT aluminum-coated mylar balloons. This is why aluminum foil is preferred.

For sealing cans of paint with damaged rims, use aluminum duct tape, for the same reason--solvents cannot permeate aluminum, but they can permeate polymer duct tape.

Year of experience. Even a thin metal layer makes all the difference.

3M is selling 3oz. tubes of 4200 & 5200 now. It doesn't feel as wasteful as having a 10 oz. tube set up on you. I think the 3 oz. sells for about $20. The 10 oz. is more like $30. So the savings isn't linear. But it's irritating to have to buy 10 ozs. for a small job.
I hope the condoms work. The fridge works for as about as long as you can stand looking at tubes of goop in the fridge. My father in law used to put a nail in but that was for caulk.

The other "trick" is to find more uses for Sika and 3M polyurethanes. Around the house. Fixing shoes and rain gear. Lotsa stuff you might not buy the good stuff for, but it works a treat and keeps it fresh. Yesterday I used some black Loctite PL S30 to fix cracked vinyl armrests on the office chair I'm sitting in. A perfect match and similar texture.

I used some 795 to keep the little metal plug in the end of my Super Stroke putter grip from unscrewing, falling out, and hiding in the bottom of my cart bag. Worked great!
I’ve put mixed epoxy in a freezer and it seems to keep for a long time and still reacts once warmed up to room temp.

I was installing a trellis on our back deck today. I needed to seals some fasteners to the roof and siding. I could have used latex caulk, but I used Sika. It's a better product anyway, now there is that much less in the tube, and I pushed out the little plug that formed from the last time I used it, weeks ago.

Use it up.

I take a rubber glove or the corner of a plastic bag, put it over the nozzle and squeeze a bunch of caulk out. It keeps it for 6-8 months. Beyond that you have to put a screw or drill bit in the nozzle to open it up
