How to install VDO water temp gage H-356

Anybody install a VDO water temp gage on the Yanmar 3gm30 or 3ym30.I don`t like these idiot lights.My first task is install the water temp gage,next,oil pressure gage.I bought the gage on line [ebay for a rediculous price of $8.50].however I still need to but the sender.Any help appreciated,thread size etc.

I think it should answer all your questions. I think if the sender is T'ed in to the existing unit they have a tendency to break. I understand the threads on these Yanmars are an odd British thread (BSW??), some owners have re-tapped them for metric or inch fittings. It seems the most popular solution is the water heater hose inline approach discussed in this thread.
