I would like to put speakers on my hunter 240 and not put an entire stereo system in. Just want to play music from my ipod through speakers. Anyone done this with an easy solution? I know I can buy speakers from Best Buy that are battery operated, but I wanted to potentially hard wire something with electrical system....Thanks....

A pair of speakers and a cheap car amp

My boat came with an inexpensive radio shack 100 watt car amp. The p/o had all kinds of speakers all over the place which I promptly removed and I installed two small decent speakers that I had laying around. The connection to the iPod is a mini jack to rca cable. The iPod controls the volume. It works great, it's simple, and it sounds AWESOME!!! Added bonus, I can hook up my XM or TV to it. Manny

Loo in the archives

There is something about ipods in the archives if you look. I use a home ipod stereo that plugs into my inverter. But they make those that run off of batteries and are loud. Go check otu radio shack, best buy, wal-mart, circuit city, ect ect ect lol

Any powered computer speakers...

...could be used. Most have an input for a power adapter, you'll just need to use an adapter for car use (12 volt), such as a cigarette lighter adapter. Connect the iPod using the appropriate cable. Connecting to the iPod's headphone jack will work fine, but you'll get somewhat better sound quality if you connect to the docking port on the bottom of the iPod. These cables are more expensive than a simple cable to fit the headphone jack, however, but I find the sound quality difference to be worth it. Cactus

Water-resistant iPod boombox

We're thinking about the iHome water-resistant boombox available at Brookstone. It comes with both AC and DC power supplies. I have not seen it in person or heard the sound quality yet, though. Harry
