To those who say there may not be a choice... and ,,,that's like telling fat people not to eat.
That's bull, They can sail anyplace in the world. THEY Chose to sail that route to get to another destination. That destination was important enough to risk their safety, there problem. Someone mentioned skydiving , the risk associated with that is not other people waiting to steel your shoot but possible equipment malfunction. If 1 in 10 skydivers would die there would be a lot less people skydiving because of the risk. I'm not saying don't go sailing there, just that it's each sailors choice. Personally , my wife and children and friends lives are worth more than that risk. I would find another way to get to the other side of that area or I would not go. I simply could not live with myself if something happened to my wife or children only because I "Hoped We would get lucky and not be the one's that get caught. Your life your risk.
I have read the stories and methods for making the passage as safe as possible... BUT is still a big risk.
You go, good luck, may god be with you. You get taken by pirates, please don't ask the taxpayers to bail you out.

Also, I think the war ships should just start blowing up these boats and kill them all , take no prisoners. Find them on land, screw the locals that know they are hiding there, blow them off the globe....

Now go ahead and start chewing me a new one......

For Bill..........agree with the fact that they have to have some sense to keep scoring as far as ransom. I was referring to the fact that the US Navy placard might not help. They've attacked 2 frigates by "mistake".
