Catalina 27' San Rafael

How could I go about hauling my 27' Catalina from California to Tennessee?
Is there a company that would haul it for me, or a company that would loan me a vehicle and trailer to tow it myself? I don't know specifics such as, is my boat too wide for me to haul it myself (9' 10")? Who could I call to ask questions about it?
I'd like to keep her, but if all options turn out to be cost prohibitive, I'll have to sell her.

You can do it yourself with a very good tandem wheel trailer and equally good tow vehicle. Otherwise you are talking $4000. or more for a licensed boat hauler. If you have a very solid cradle you could mount that on a rented lowboy flatbed. Height is your main concern, the ten foot width is fine.

P.S. I recently had my H37C hauled from Florida. I tried this bid approach but ended up finding my own for less. http://www.uship.com/LandingPages/custom/us_boats_orange_060811.htm

Precision 28 Ashland, Oregon
I hired a company to tow our Precision 28 from Missouri to Oregon last year. The boat already had it's own trailer. The cost was around $3,000 but by my quick calculations it would have cost me at least that much to do it myself, not including time away from from work (no wages). Each state has slightly different permit requirements for over wide loads, and the company took care of all that as well. If you;re interested I can look back through my records and find you their contact info....

Catalina, Luger C-27, Adventure 30 Marina del Rey
Sumner just informed me of this thread, indicating that there is someone out there as foolish as I. I bought a C-27 shoal draft already on a trailer near Pittsburgh, PA last summer and hauled it to here in Marina Del Rey last year. I had never driven cross country before so I took the scenic route, I-70 east and I-40 back. The boat was exactly what I was looking for and I had the summer off, so I figure what the heck. The gas cost me $1200 and the boat $4300.
Would I haul it back if I were to move east? Unless you're irrationally in love with your boat, I don't think so. I would probably sell it and buy a new project back east. For one thing it's going to cost you as much as the boat is worth to buy a trailer. For another boats tend to bring a higher price in the land of Fruits and Nuts. The eastern boats, as does everything else, sell for less in the south-east. Just like your house you could probably sell you boat here and afford to buy a floating mansion back there.
Assuming you have a full fin keel, you're going to have a much higher profile.
If you do decide to go for it, watch out for those tornadoes and lightning storms.
''Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.''

And that was in July!
Don't mean to be a dream killer but unless you love your boat as much a Recess loves his new motor, I would reconsider.
