How to get rid of mildew on sail

One year ago, I purchased a new 150% genoa and main sail from North Sails for my H33. The genoa is furled, and is a laminate radial cut, what North calls Norlam. It has a UV cover that I think is dacron. When taking the sails down for the season, I discovered very small black X's on the UV material of the genoa. These marks do not appear on any other part of the sail. I called North to get their recommendation for cleaning, and was told that the person I needed to talk with was out of town, and that he would call back. After waiting several days with no call-back, I called there. He was in, and we talked about the problem. He said that mildew is a big problem, and that I was lucky to live in a northern climate, where mildew is minimized. He said he recalled seeing an article from North HQ about cleaning, and was going to get back to me. Now it is over a week, and I have had no response. I guess that I feel I am getting a run around from North Sails loft in Toronto. The problem with cleaning this material is that it is a laminate, and anything with a bleach content would harm the mylar sandwiched between the dacron. I am looking for any ideas. Thanks. Sail Cleaning - My secret

I had a 155 genoa on a previous boat and to clean it I put it in my Jacuzzi. I used a very mild sail detergent I purchased from Boat / U.S. and I let it bubble in the Jacuzzi for several hours even overnight. I used far less detergent than recommended on the container. The sail cleaning kit came with a bleach or whitener but I did not use that for fear of harming the sails. Changed the water (very dirty) and ran in Jacuzzi for several more hours. Then rigged a halyard in a tall oak tree in the front yard. I hoisted the sail, rinsed with garden hose and allowed to dry in the sun. It came out great and looked like new. When I took the sails to a sail loft a couple of years later to restitch they asked how I kept them so clean.
