how to find a replacement transom rubrail

Hello,
Well hurricane Dorian saw my sailboat break off her mooring despite my best efforts to prepare. She spent the night nosed onto a beach and suffered almost no damage except another boat broke off her mooring and struck mine in the rear. This took off the end chunk of the transom rubrail. I am not sure where to go about looking for a replacement rubrail - I have a 1977 hunter 33. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear that, sounds like you *almost* made it through without trouble! I'm also sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the tooling for those rub rails was destroyed many years ago. If you've got an end hanging loose, shoot a photo of the profile of the rub rail and take some measurements. We can check to see if it's close to anything in production these days.

Thanks, I asked a local boat snoop and they said they can make a new one using the pieces of the old one to create a mold. So I think I'm good!
