I'd like to retire, and take on the contract to maintain your boat for you. The only thing you didn't list was, do you pay anybody to sail the boat for you!

Doesnt anyone work on their boats anymore?

WOW, I could never afford my boat if I didnt do most of my own work on her. This includes winterizing, normal preventive maint and upgrades as well. Last year did fresh water and replaced all blackwater systems (2 heads are not better than one in this case) and for parts cost me <$1000, saving approx $2000 in labor. This year new electric and remove teak deck. Materials about $3k, saving about $5k in labor. The added advantage to DIY is you learn where help is handy so you can apply the skills when their not!

systems?

I figure about 5% of sales price as annual maint. are you figuring on cost to fix the fridge? a/c, heater, bilge pumps, the diesel rebuild, replacing the standing rigging,(10-12yrs) running rigging, etc... of course it depends on what on board, where she'll sit, and how risk tolerant you are. think fixed / varriable costs, & Replacement costs, vs life expectency.... save now for that new diesel you'll need in 8-10 years. nothing lasts forever.
