I have a 1991 30"t" with the foam-backed, beige colored vinyl along the interior hull in forward and aft cabins. Does anyone know any magic for cleaning this stuff? I have a bit of mildew here and there and a few marks and stains. I've tried various things and none seem to work very well. Any help would be appreciated, Mike

Here is how you do it Mike

Mike, Bleach water works great! Use a little cleanser at the same time. Make sure you do not get the bleach water on anything that might loose its color. so put a drop cloth (Plastic) down. Also, if that does not work. It will work though. Use the mildew remover that Star Bright makes. It is sold at Meijors. Also, you can get it from any boating store. Don't be afraid to use bleach water though. Bleach is your friend! Also, when you go to replace this foam backed vynyl, come talk to me! I know how to replace it cheaply! Hint: Use industrial capret pad, the choice of your apholstery or vynyl...Apholstery looks and feels best...and adhesive spray. Your Pal, Skipper from Ohio (Eric Stanson)

Hi Mike, a surveyor told me to use Soft Scrub...

So we did. We had lots of mildew on various parts of the liner when we purchased our 1991 P42 last year. Soft Scrub melts it right off and still no return mildew one year later. Easy to use, just follow the directions. It also takes off the gunk stain that builds up along the waterline. Terry

Star Brites, Hull Cleaner, Mildew Remover

Last post says soft scrub takes off the gunk at the water line....But if you have not tried Start Brites, Hull cleaner, give it a try! It is amazing. It will take off all the stain at the water line no matter how much or how old it is. Also, until you have put Star Brites, Hull cleaner on your top side, you have not seen white yet!!!! Also, try Star Brite Mildew remover. It take mildew out instantly from all materials and does not discolor!! Your Pal Skipper (From Ohio) Eric Stanson)

West Marine

The only thing I have found that really works is West Marine Mold Stain remover. Before buying it I asked if I could bring it back if it didn't work. Turns out that it really worked which was a surprise.
