I own a 1991 Hunter Legend 355 and my interior woodwork needs some good cleaning-polishing. What products & methods have you used to clean and bring out the best the wood ( & veneer ) has to offer. Thanks for your help

I refinished with Daly's ShipnShore, a wipe on product with a semi gloss thinned varnish. I had to sand down the companionway grab rails alot to get to clean surface and used TSP on the cupboard door below the sink. I had to use GoofOff cleaner to get the rubbed teak oil scuffs off the cabin liners and white sections.

The ShipnShore took 2 coats to really look good. It even blended well where the sun had lightened the finish above the nav station at the window. Looks excellent, guests don't believe the age of the boat. Pics in owners section on this site.

I have a '91 375. Exactly the same. Hunter finished the interiors with Daly's Sea Fin Teak Oil (I have the original documents). Still available and I've used it. It's a bit of a process but certainly can restore to original finish if you want. Directions are on the cans.

using two good brands of oil isnt going to give any better results than using only one... one will just clean the other off and replace it with itself...

there is not really much difference in the oils... one is about as good as another on the interior wood...although some are waaay more expensive... on the exterior wood, you cant apply the oil too often. its a constant chore to keep bare exterior wood oiled, but the interior wood only needs it every couple of months or so...

for the interior, I use lemon pledge furniture polish... its cheap, it works well and is easy to use, it hides scuffs and scratches, keeps it all shiny and oiled and smells pleasent...

On my 1998 376, i clean interior wood paneling and companionway steps with Murphy's diluted to 25%. Then I teak oil. Great results. Need to redo companionway steps a couple of times during the season but that's it. For the cabin sole (refinished with Daly's Pro Fin) i use Bona Chemie wood floor cleaner.

25% sounds about right for the Murphy's. I'm not sure because the wife usually takes care of it. I have used Pledge in the past and have no complaints about it.
