Has anybody successfully changed the acrylic in a portlight? I can manage to get them out of the hull, but the plastic "glass" is a problem. As you can see from the photo of a spare I had and cut up, the glass is held in place by some kind of flanged plastic strip, and that thing is really stuck in there. No amount of prying loosens it.
I'm thinking that one of those flush cutting tools with the parallel-to-surface blade might work....just saw down through that strip.
But, assuming that the plastic has to fit inside the inner profile of the frame, how do you get it in there?
I have the feeling that there is no solution to this problem, but you never know....actually the answer is :"Spend $650 for new ones!".
