I would like to run nylon safety netting along the lifelines on our C27. However, I can't figure out how or what to attach the netting to on the deck. Does anyone have suggestions?

Run a line from stanchion to stanchion

When installing similar netting on my 27, I wanted to avoid drilling into the deck and creating possible areas of seepage. Instead I tied a line along the bottom of each stanchion and wove it through the bottom of the netting. With sufficient tension there was minimal space between the netting and the deck. I found that for my purpose, keeping small children on deck and my wife appeased, the space was acceptable. Depending upon your needs, it may not be. I would experiment with it though before drilling into the deck, particularly if you envision removing the netting at some point.

Stanchion to stancion with padeye's in between

I've contemplated this problem too, and like K Jacques I also would like to not drill any additional holes on deck. I like the idea of running a line from stanchion to stanchion. If that is not good enough then you could also glue some padeye's to the deck in between the stanchions using 3M 5200.

Save the Drilling!

When I placed netting around my vessel (Coronado 35) many years ago, I had the same issue. What I did was successfully weaved a thin (1/16th) nylon line thru the bottom of the net and secured it firmly to the base of the stanchion. Although it was 1/2 to 1 inch above the gunnel line, it was tight and kept my young son from going under. Try this first before drilling holes into your deck. Bob
