I know how to add a picture to a post here, but can't figure out how thumbnail pictures are posted here. Any chance of a quick lesson or a point in the right direction to read how to do it?

Hi again Blue Runner! By Thumbnail do you mean your avatar image that you see attached to all your posts?

Ah!, What you see there is the outcome of adding photos to a reply. But to add photos you have to use the 'go advanced' button, not the quick reply button. The advanced reply section has 2 ways to attach photos. One is using the little camera icon which allows you to upload attachments and the other is the 'postcard' icon which allows you to insert an image into your reply. I think I used the camera icon and the 'thumbnails' resulted. I will do that now to see what happens.
PS. What I attached is my plans to upgrade my H15 tiller to a wooden one that pivots upwards (so it looks better and also so I don;t have to step over my tiller every time I tack)

Yes, I understand about the "postcard" icon for adding pictures to the text section of a post (red arrow). In fact, that's all I ever used for pictures. As to the "thumbnail" pictures as in your post above, I'm at a loss on that.

I'm sure from reading your last post above, I should be clicking on a "camera" icon for thumbnails. The problem is that I don't see a camera icon. Do you mean the icon that is 3 to the left of the "postcard" icon? I've tried that without getting a thumbnail. I'm wondering if this is happening because I'm using Safari?

We have both kinds of computer (the wonderful Macs and the other kind invented by the evil genius). I am replying from my Mac using Safari (I usually use firefox (more secure)).
I have attached the two step process that I use when I add thumbnails instead of inserting a large image into the text reply.
Try this process and let me know if it works:
Step one - click 'go advanced' button.
Step two - write reply in 'reply field' and then click 'camera icon' to add thumbnails.
Cheers!

Finally figured it out...

When I click on Advanced while in Safari, the "camera" icon does NOT show up. Nor does anything else on the top line where the camera icon sits. Same thing with using Chrome (no camera).

I opened up Opera and doing exactly the same routine, the camera and the other options DO appear. Strange. From reading your post, it appears that you do see the camera option when in Safari and I assume with an Apple computer (I use Safari on my tote along Toshiba laptop also).

I wonder if it might be some setting in this forum that I don't have set correctly. I'm going to take a look at that when I have time.

Thanks for your instructions.

I see the 'camera' icon in the 'go advanced' reply template on my Mac using firefox or safari and on my Sony Vaio using firefox with Windows 7. So I don't know what to advise you except to ask the the guys who run this forum. They might be able to give you a hint.
Cheers.

Well, it's not that big of a deal. The only reason I brought it up is that I was having the same problem on other forums as well and I thought it was something I was doing wrong.

I just checked my wife's Apple Mini computer and she's running Windows 7 in BootCamp. On her computer, Safari DOES show the top line in the advanced setup that includes the "camera" option.

So, I suspect it has something to do with the way my MBP displays a webpage in Safari.

I can live without any thumbnails on my laptop.

Thanks again for showing me that I don't have to belong to a secret society to show my thumbnails. :)

You mean you're not a member of THE secret society? Dam, and now I've gone and divulged the secrets of the inner temple!!!!!!!
