How should tack of the main sail attach to the boom?

Thanks, I like that and might look into copying it. Our new sail for our Mac won't fit down into the boom and attach with the pin in the boom like the stock one did.
I have it attached with a shackle....
.
..now and that allows the sail to go a little higher on the mast and it is almost at the top since I had earlier raised the gooseneck some for bimini/boom clearance.
