Did you include the weight of the trailor?

The specs on the H26 have the boat weight at about 3000lb (that and empty weight). The trailer was another 1500lb (nothing like galvanized steel). We easily had another 500 lb in stuff on board with the motor, extra battery, coolers, cushions, water, beer, etc. That brought us up closeto that 5000lb limit. Mark

Thanks Again Mark B

The spec sheet indicates towing weight to be 3,870 pounds and I thought that meant towing the trailer also. Think I will call Hunter on that one. The boat would look silly being dragged down the hi-way without a trailer. I appreciate you helping me stay on the ball. I have just about concluded that I will stay on the lookout for a V8 Jeep with towing package and 4 wheel drive. Thanks again Harv

Mark Burrows Where Are You?

Mark, We were expecting you at the rendezvous this year. Boat or no boat. Missed you and your family. Earl sold his 23.5 the weekend before and had no boat to play on. Jim S/V Java

Burrows on the land

I was disappointed that we could not get to the rendezvous. Its always fun. I spent the weekend wiring a light fixture, sanding drywall, teaching Jr. how to use a toilet, and discussing nursery options (yes, Baby Burrows II is on the way). I'm only sailing at the Wed nights races with the Herrington Harbor Sailing Assoc. I'm crewing on a 1980 Catalina 27 (Mary Beth) tricked out for racing. I have not seen any info on the Rendezvous. Who won the dinghy race? Mark

TRailering your H26

I have a H23.5 and use Dorango to Tow. Before the dorango I used a Grand Cherokee 6 and found that it just didn't do the job. Wouldn't want to tow a 6 with anything less than an 8. I also have the problem of getting the 23.5 up against the bow stop when pulling out. Have found that I have to pull once to dump water and the refloat to get it right. Love to sail the bot but work travel keeps me from being able to sail often enough justify slip so the bck yard is the place for me. I agree that unrigging is a pain after a good weekend of sailing, but for me it's worth it. Mike SV Sail La Vie
