Just spent the week-end installing a Raratin SeaEra pressurized flush toilet. Seems to work Ok. One question is how much water is supposed to remain in the bowl? I only have about an inch or two from the bottom. Is this correct? Seems like there should be more? Also found out my bowl (from old Par/Jabsco toilet) is cracked at the water inlet in the back. This is a source of a small leak? Any suggestions on where to get a new bowl via internet that I can get by next Friday? Thanks all.

Water level is about right

Marine toilets aren't designed to hold water in the bowl...'cuz it ends up all over the head in heavy seas or even when the boat heels. As for a replacement bowl, check with your local boat yards. When they replace toilets, they toss 'em out. I used to salvage 2-3 bowls from a local yard every year to have on hand in the spring for people who discovered that failing to winterize their system correctly resulted in cracked bowl. Any bowl that has a 4 bolt mounting bolt pattern will fit your new SeaEra.

Thanks again Peggy

You helped me decide on the SeaEra in the first place. It appears to be everything as advertized. Your advice is much appreciated. Pat

Pat, I usually have about 2 inches of water

after a flush with my SeaEra. Have had no problems with any sloshing of water. Hi Peggie. Jim S/V Java

noisy?

We also have installed a Raritan Sea Era but find it very noisy! Is that typical of electric heads?

All sea water electric toilets are noisy

Some are a lot noisier than others...the SeaEra is one of the quieter ones. The reason sea water toilets are noisy is because, contrary to popular belief, it's not the discharge pump and macerator that makes all the noise, it's the intake pump. Toilets designed to use pressurized flush water are VERY quiet--even quieter than most household toilets--because they don't have an intake pump..only a solenoid valve. Hull resonance can contribute to the noise, making the same toilet noisier on some boats than others. If your SeaEra is excessively noisy, give Vic Willman at Raritan a call--800-352-5630 x 6--to discuss possible ways (if there are any) to mount it on some insulation. Hiya, Jim. :) An inch or two left in the bowl is about right. But people today expect a marine toilet to hold half a bowl of water like "the one at home." Marine toilets--except for some high end big yacht models--aren't designed to do that.

fresh water

Forgot to say it's a freshwater head. Thanks for the info! Maybe there is some resonance going on because it is very noisy! Sorry to sound so dumb but what is it that could maybe be mounted on some insulation?
