I have the opportunity to buy a spinnaker cheap that is slightly smaller for my Catalina 30 tall rig. The boat is set up for a spinnaker, I'm just missing the sail. I just want the sail to practice and gain experience with before I commit to spending more money. Your thoughts please.

On both asyms and symmetrical spinnakers you can go probably 3 feet shorter on your boat (10% generally) on the luff and 2 feet shorter on the foot dimensions until it will start to effect performance. Or look silly, which is the REAL reason not to do it!

Although I can't really answer your question, I'll tell you that I'm using the spinnaker I had made for my H23 on my H260. We didn't want to let it go with the 23 so I'm using it. Damn the torpedoes. But I can't say I'd buy one that's too small.
