First time for me. To stay in the water all season. how much paint and anti-fowl do i need for a 23 footer? Will be in salt water and I want to do it right.

I haven't done mine yet, but I bought 2 quarts to redo my dolphin 23, the guy at the store told me it will be enough for 2 coats
Do not forget the centerboard and trunk it retracts into. Once in the water raise and lower that center board frequently to prevent marine growth from jamming it.

You were not specific as to which boat. generally you would want to apply two coats with a third coat around the water line. If you are considering to pull the boat out at the end of each season look at the style paint that the anti fouling properties will not dry out which I use to use the one from West Marine and forgot the other manufacturer. Generally anti fouling paints will loose their anti fouling properties if taken out and left to dry over 60 days. In addition I would inquire as to what is good in your area as some paints are better than others depending actually on the area. I think a gallon would suffice. former sailboat dealer.
As for the water ballast, some would tend that you would have to paint the entire centerboard housing. Actually folks, you would tend to think that is necessary but remember that the water line is not all the way up to the top of the housing for example on the 260. Look at the water scum line inside.

It's a 23 wing keel. Will only be in for the season did not know the paint dries out. There goes buying the cheap stuff on amazon. Its called Blue Water Marine Paint, New England Copper Ablative.$55 sounded too cheap.

Then try Micron CSC or the equivalent of that at West Marine which is a softer paint but the anti fouling properties are still good and will not dry out.
