How much does your slip cost per foot and what is included

I thought of this while reading another thread. Instead of side tracking that one to hunt rabbits I thought I would start a new one.

I was wondering how much are you paying per foot for you slip and what is included.

Mine is $11.00 per foot. That includes is water hook up, bath house, laundry and pool.

Not included is shore power $13.00 per month and a connection fee. There is also a live onboard fee. Not sure what that is and I did not ask because we live close to the marina.

I was wondering, when it comes to to renew if they would do a multiyear lease on lock in my rate to avoid inflation.

Costs in my area run from $7.00 per foot to $15.00 per foot for us ordinary folks. I am sure there are places the are much, much higher for those having high end yachts.

Mine comes to $60/ft. Hasn't charged since 2008. Includes water, bathhouse, pool, etc. Since I'm not a liveaboard, no charge for shore power.

This includes a washroom and shower in CAN $$$. Nice marina but the price is becoming a little excessive.

I pay for the “summer”…April 1-October 31.

I am in a 35-foot slip, with 30-amp power, DirectTV, WiFi, water, shower room, security.

So, if we assume 7 months, 35-foot slip, I am paying a bit over $10 per foot per month. $11.16 if we use my 32-foot boat length.

I am generally the first sailboat in the water in the spring (marina opens April 1, but I was a week late this year as I needed to paint the bottom). I am usually one of the last boats out at the end October. We don’t alwYs get a lot of good sailing weather in April and October. So, I am paying $15.63 per foot for a 5-month season at 32 feet of boat length.

Bent the sails on yesterday and took a short “shakeout” sail…but it was pretty darn cold!

But I am not complaining….trying to get my moneys worth out of the slip fees ;-)

Oh boy….. You’re probably going to find a big range depending on location and length of season. It’s a bit like real estate. Location, location, location.

Our 2022 season is April 15 through October 31. Officially 6 1/2 months, though I usually splash in mid to late May because I just don’t do cold. I’m also in Burnham Harbor, which I think is the best, but also the most expensive harbor in Chicago. I pay a total of $4,232.82 for my 30 foot T-head slip. That includes new floating restrooms with showers, one boater’s parking pass, security and utilities. So it works out to $21.71 per foot per month for the full 6 1/2 month season.

Included in the number above is a $376 surcharge for the convenient T-head assignment. If I was not a City of Chicago resident, I would also have to pay a $940 non-resident surcharge. Additional parking passes are available at $275 for the 2nd pass and $375 for the 3rd. So, if I lived in the suburbs, as the majority on my dock do, had the T-head slip, and was buying two additional parking passes for family/crew/guests, my total cost for a 30 foot boat would be $5,822.82 or $29.86 per foot per month.

Going to a mooring instead of a dock in other Chicago harbors would cut these numbers considerably.

I’m paying $12/ft which includes power hook up ( power is billed as used), water, bathroom, laundry and shower ( all usable but nothing nice). This is in Tacoma, Wa

I'm at $16.5/foot monthly for a 6-month season, but I can extend the season for another month in November without any charge (but they have me for winter storage anyway). Our amenities are not extravagant. We have a nice clubhouse and bare bones shower facility. Water is not good, no charge for electric. If you know somebody, laundry is available on the down low it seems . It's a marina with A LOT of commercial business activity renting barges. It's pretty noisy during the day with machinery running around, even on weekends. The entire grounds are gravel and there are virtually no pleasant areas to relax outside other than the clubhouse porch. It is quiet at night. We have no wifi other than in the clubhouse. There doesn't seem to be a liveaboard charge. All in all, policies seem to be somewhat flexible. Great neighbood environment, though, among our dock neighbors.

Am I right to assume there is not a winter storage involved? I spend around $2000 a season for a slip but also have to pay for winter storage. There is no set date for when I can put my boat into the slip or when I have to remove it. I could put it in in April, but in my area there is no point in doing that. Good sailing starts in May and goes until mid October. I pay around $500 for winter storage plus another $500 for shrink wrap so adding all that up...........

I did forget one perk. We have a seafood restaurant on the property called the surf rider. Mrs CoS and I had dinner there tonight. Surf and Turf. I had fried oysters and scallops. She had a hamburger steak.

We get a 10% discount on food and drinks. Does not cover anything from the bar.

Correct my slip is year round. The down side of the is when I do pull her for maintenance I pay for the slip and the yard. The DIY yard across the creek from the marina is $10.00 a ft too. Makes you plan ahead and the parts on hand so you can get in and get out.

We all have perks where we slip. My slip is a couple of minutes from my yacht club which has a restaurant/bar and the comradery of friends. It is the hub of my social like.

Good point. I pay $1,875 for winter storage plus $700 for shrink wrap. It’s about seven miles from home, also in the city. Very convenient, but again…. Location, location. Over $6,800 per year total, but not complaining. I can’t get a view like this anywhere else.

I played softball in Grant Park throughout the 80's. Your slip is a bargain when you consider the amenities right at your door!

My feeling exactly. When I hear other boaters in my harbor complaining about the cost, traffic, nearby concert events, etc. I just say “LOOK where you are!” Where else are you going find anything like it?
Montrose and Belmont harbors are actually closer to home, about a 2 or 3 mile bike ride, but I much prefer Burnham.

15.50 per foot/per month. Includes electricity, water, and a toilet. We're in the water year-round. Parking is tight in the summer.
