I have a 9.2C, and have a stupid question...How can I tell how much diesel is in my tank? My tank doesn't appear to have a gauge. There is a straight shot down the fill tube into my tank...use a stick??
Yep, a stick works fine. I use a small dowel and marked it based on the fuel tank. Do you have the 31 gallon tank that is in the 9.2A (our boat)? I'm curious what tanks were used for the 9.2C or earlier 9.2A's --
Rick
I have the last 9.2C off the assembly line, hull #427, and it has the 3GMF engine, not the two cylinder, but I'm not sure the size of the tank...haven't measured it yet. Anyone installed a gauge successfully??
My 1980 9.2C has the 2QM15 and 18 gallon fuel tank. The tank is just forward of the engine, straight under the filler. I have what appears to be original fuel gauge that is part of the electrical panel. As far as I can tell from specs I have seen, the 18 gallon tank seems to be the norm.
Same here...1981 9.2A with a 2QM15 and an 18 gallon tank. Gauge is in the engine instrument cluster.
Please note that I had pinhole leaks under the strap and at the weld under the forward part of the tank. If you smell diesel in your bilge, check there. Tank was removed and patched with epoxy by the previous owner but is on my short list for replacement.
I have a 1976 S2 9.2A with no fuel gauge, but there is a straight shot into the tank. I use a length of 1/2" wooden dowel marked at several approximate levels. I'm mainly concerned with knowing that I am below 1/2 full.
I experienced the condition know as EMPTY one time and didn't like it.
I have a 9.2C with an 18 gallon tank and a gauge. I decided to calibrate the gauge so I cut notches in an old piece of hardwood and learned the dip method, since it's a straight shot from the fill cap. The tank is 18" tall so I notched the stick every inch and marked it with a sharpie pen. Peregrine burns about 1/2 gallon per hour with our 3GM and I find it very useful to assist in our cruise planning, especially when the tank is low.
