How many vented loops?

I am installing a new tank, Macorator and all plumbing from the head to the discharge points. I bought a boat that had it all removed, so I only have the owners manual, which does not show any vented loops downstream from the head. Where all do you recomend I put them? I assume the vents need to be above the waterline?

How many depends on several things...

Vented loops should be in any line connected to a below-waterline thru-hull...So at the very least, you need one in the head intake--put it between the pump and the bowl, NOT between the thru-hull and the pump--and one between the macerator and the thru-hull. If your toilet will only flush into the tank, you don't need a vented loop in the head discharge line. But you plan to install a y-valve that lets you choose between flushing directly overboard or to the tank, you will need one. I recommend that you put it immediately after the toilet as shown in the attached photo. All vented loops should be at least 6-8" above the waterline at any angle of heel. You might want to check out the link below before starting any of this work...it includes some tips that can make the job a little easier and also will help you select the best location for the tank and how to vent it to keep it aerobic.
