I am just getting into sailing. I have never sailed before and I would love if someone was able to show me a little bit on what to do. My dad lives in Forked River and I am with him everyother weekend. I am 14 and my name is chris. I am looking at buying a 1974 Hunter 25 for 1500 dollars that I could fix up. Chris: I wish I could help you directly, but I no longer sail out of Forked River. (I did until 2 years ago -- now I just winter-store my boat there.) But one easy way to satisfy the sailing bug would be to visit some of the local marinas and see if you can post a notice on their bulletin board, along the lines of "novice crew eager to learn seeks boat w/skipper willing to train", or something like that. One very promising source might be the Silver Cloud Marina and Tall Oaks Marina, on Bay Ave., where there are numerous sailboats. I know some of the folks there, and chances are you'll find someone willing to give you some hands-on training.
