Not us. It took us awhile to choose a name, and it wasn't particularly important to me, but with two kids (though teenagers) the idea of not having a name for our boat just wasn't going to fly.

But I really don't think you have to name any vessel -- your boat, your choice.

Yup! If you call for help and you tell them the boat is the Maltilda when they get to your location they will be looking for Matilda and you ain't her!

Uh, probably not. They use the boat name for radio communications..... denying assistance because the boat name isn't visible would go against the law of the sea..... and bad business if you're in the towing business.
