Our best year was 2010 in our old C&C 24. We made just over 1,000 nm. Previous years ranged from as low as 250 nm to 600 nm.
In 2011, our first season with our new to us C310, my goal was 1,000 nm and we did about 600 nm. Our big trip was bringing the boat from Narragansett Bay to Hingham. We had a lot of weekends eaten up by some maintenance/repairs (exhaust elbow broke, battery charger went frying one of the batteries, the exhaust elbow lead to several other problems including having to be towed back to our slip for what ended up being a clogged air filter). Plus we were just getting to know the boat. We did spend almost every weekend on the boat and used it a lot more thanour previous boat.
In 2012, our second season with our C310, my goal was again 1,000 nm and we again did about 600 nm again but we essentially lived on board from April through November. Our big trip was down through the Cape Cod Canal to Cuttyhunk and the Vineyard. Weather was a big factor in keeping us from going far this year. Too many weekends had thunder storms predicted, some of which ended up being great with no storms. We cancelled many weekend trips to places like P-Town, Gloucester, the Isle of Shoals, etc. because of weather predictions. Instead we would stay local and drop the hook off of Grape Island, Peddock's Island or in World's End. Most of these trips ended up with us rafted up with friends overnight, which was a lot of fun. We got a lot of great use of the boat but not as many miles under the keel as I wanted.
For 2013, I am not setting a goal. I just want to spend as much time on my boat as I can. Hopefully the house will be sold and we will be full-time live aboards. I will get a night sail to P-Town in this year. I will also get to the Ipswich River again. Our big trip may be to Maine this year.
