Does anyone know about how much paint it takes to bottom coat a 1977 H-30. Probably better question is how many square feet is it? I'd like to mail order the paint and put on two coats. I would guess that the second coat uses somewhat less than the first? Anyone remember? Thanks, Henry

Maybe you can create an estimate from the recent paint job on my 42. I use ACP60 ablative so there are more coats than you'd use. 3 coats on entire hull with 5 coats at waterlins and on appendages and entry. 4.5 gallons

bottom paint

Five quarts of ablative paint is enough for one full coat on my 1979 H-27 applied by roller. There is enough left for some touch up applied by brush along the leading edge of the keel, stem, and along the waterline (the heavy wear areas). I find one coat each spring is more than enough. It only wears through in small spots at those heavy wear areas when hauled in the fall. David H-27 Renegade

I've done my 1983 30 twice,I use 2 gal. of trinidad, this let's me, brush 3 coats on the water line, & 2 coats rolled, brushed, spilled on the bottom. But it gives you plenty of paint to do the job.If your doing it yourself, make a list of every thing you could possibly need, otherwise your really slowed down & wind up spending big $ for home depot tape, mineral spirits imho. have fun! pat

2.25 Gal on a 31'

I rolled on two coats of CSC micron paint in my 85 Hunter 31 and brushed on a third coat on the leading edge of the bow, the keel and rudder for good measure. Took 2 Gal and plus a quart.
