ITM-
It is a hard epoxy/copper paint and I don't do anything to it during the season... My boat was in from mid-May to mid-October and all I had on the bottom when I hauled it was slime.

A bit of powerwashing and even that was gone.
The name of the paint is CopperCoat, and it isn't available in the USA as of yet. I had to order it from the UK and have it shipped air freight. Their website is
www.coppercoat.co.uk and has more information there. I've got two friends using it, one is on year eight and the other on year 15. It was rather expensive to purchase, more so than regular bottom paint, but I look at it as a long term investment.
If I get five years out of it, I'll be about even with the cost of using a decent ablative, but will have had more time to enjoy the boat and spent less time painting it. If I get the manufacturer's ten years out of it—I'll be very happy... and if I get the fifteen my friend has gotten from it—it'll more than have paid for itself in time and effort saved.
Unlike most hard epoxy paints, this one doesn't get deactivated if you haul the boat out... to prep the boat for splashing this year, I did absolutely nothing...

The reason it doesn't get deactivated it that it doesn't use a copper-based biocide in the paint film. It uses actual metallic copper, in the form of a very fine powder that is added to the epoxy carrier. When it dries, it is supposed to be about 85% copper by volume.
At the beginning of last season, I had the boat bottom soda blasted down to gelcoat, barrier coated the hulls with Interprotect 2000E, and then applied the CopperCoat.
The only place I had any real problems is the rudder, but that is because I didn't really give it the proper number of coats and the mix was a bit off, since my assistant accidentally lost some of the copper powder that t was supposed to be in the paint. It had some growth on it...but nothing at all on the hulls, and pressure washing took care of the growth on the rudder and the slime on the hulls. Of course, if had scrubbed the rudder every other week, I wouldn't have even had any growth on it to deal with either...
