I was wondering how the guy who cut his hand really bad last year is doing? I am not sure if his name was Steve or not. If you see this, please let me know how your doing this year. Hope all is well and you will be able to enjoy your boat this season. Fair winds Jack Beneteau 411

Hey, R.W. how are you doing?

I haven't seen or read much from you lately. What's new with the boat this season? Are you getting ready to launch? I hope to splash tooth'n'nail this coming weekend. Hope all is well with you. Tom Ehmke

Tom,

EXHIBIT"A" went in on Friday. The friend that I had with me was to watch the forstay as the mast went up. He did, then said that the turnbuckle jaw was bent. We bent the lower barrel bolt on the turnbuckle to 90 degrees. That blew sailing and rig tuning for last weekend. I picked up a new jaw bolt for next weekend. I didn't do much to the boat this year. Painted a wide waterline strip with antifouling paint. Installed my old low draw VHF. Added a few switches that I didn't get to last year. I relocated the battery trying to reduce the starboard list that my boat has. It helped alittle. Sewed a new sail cover and simple bimini. Put new line in my fishing reels. How are you doing? Is the ice off the lake yet? What did you do about pulling the boat last year with the low water levels? What projects did you get into? My wife and I are thinking of spending a week up that way. Is it hard to find a place to launch and moor if I decide to leave it for a few weeks? Is Kelly's the nicer place to visit? Hope things go well with your launch r.w.landau

Let' keep an eye out for him, hope he's OK!

Thanks for your response guys.. Terrible thing that happened to Steve last year. I make a living working with my hands and I cringe just thinking about that guy. Fair Winds, Jack Beneteau 411

R.W. , good to hear from you

No major projects before splashing her this season. I sanded and redid the teak with Cetol. Replaced a bronze ball valve which looked like water froze and cracked it. Hope to install a couple of solar vents to keep a better airflow down below. If you're thinking of cruising the western end of Lake Erie, check out Pelee Island (Canadian), Middle Bass, North Bass along with Kelley's if you want a quiet, laid-back experience. If you want chaos, check out Put-in-Bay on the weekends... It's really a beautiful island... during the week. The Perry Monument is a spectacle and there is a new visitor's center on the island. I take my class to the island every year after the season is over. Don't intend to be critical, I'm just not into the Party scene. If you do come our way, let me know. There will be space at our marina this season and I can probably get you dockage. If you can launch from your trailer, there are public launches in the area. If you need to be lowered into the water from a lift, there is one available at Harbor Park where I dock. Rates are very reasonable. Water levels are low again this year, but the sailor who owns the marina says that everyone will be able to get in and out unless the wind blows strong from the west for a few days in a row. The strong, steady west winds move all the water to the east end of Lake Erie where it piles up against Buffalo... Let me know if you do come this way. Take care, Tom
