.........I went home for Christmas and ended up walking through Long Beach Alamitos Bay marina (where I learned to sail as a boy). The thing that surprised me was how neglected and abandoned 80% of the boats looked compared to my marina in Pepin, WI...........
Ruth and I walked that marina when we were there visiting her kids and we noticed the same thing. How can so many people afford to have boats sitting like that and never use them. We went once on a weekday and once on a weekend and we could hardly find a slip with no boat in it. I've also noticed Googling Earth that this isn't just a situation that pertains to that one marina. It is sad that so many people obviously want to have a boat, but can't get time to use them .

Our boat is about 30 seconds away either outside in the drive or in the shop. Our problem is the nearest water to put it in besides the small local lake is 1 1/2 hours away. Due to that all of our trips are long ones when we do go. Fortunately we are both retired, so being away from home for some time is not a big deal.

As far as driving to and from a boat that is really an individual thing as some hate driving and to others it is no big deal. I like to work on my stuff and for me having it close at hand for that reason is important.

Based on all of your pros and cons and what I already knew I think I will stick with the trailer option for the time being, I like the idea that I could put the 25 there for a season and if I didnt like it pull it out and bring it home.

Thanks

I think you are making a wise decision that allows you a variety of options. The most important thing is that you enjoy the boat.
