How do you

In the course of opening and closing the coolant water intake through-hull and running the engine every few weeks this winter, I seem to have lost the water in the circuit. The sympton is that I see the usual exhaust gas coming out the transom ports, but don't see any water coming out. Can anyone tell me how to "re-prime" the coolant path with seawater so it flows through properly?

Impellar, maybe?

Is your boat still in the water? If so, you may have lost the impellar. Easily replaced. As for re-priming, I have heard of guys circulating water into their cooling jackets with a drill pump. Normal water pressure from a deck hose can cause problems. Best Regards, Rob

A couple ideas

Hey Steve, sounds like you are still in the water, or you would have to re-antifreeze the engine. My C30 stopped pumping water last summer, it was in fact the water pump impeller, easy to replace. BUT a couple weeks later, NO WATER again. I inspected the impeller, no problem, so I pulled the thru hull hose off and, no water came up through! I took a kabob stick and poked it down through and walah! A piece of debri was cought in the intake hole. It had apparently sucked up a chunk of something. Again, an easy fix. Good Luck, Sail on, Dean

Raw water filter?

Is there water in your raw water filter? IF not, you may have lost the seal. I'd open it, fill it with water and check the seal.
