How do you store

What engine do you have? Is it possible there is a drain, usually in the back end of the pan, and you haven't located it.
Yanmar 2GM20F. No such luck.

I've searched and got a hernia, scraped knuckles, and a dislocated shoulder in the process. Lost all interest at that point.

Is that really easier than an extractor anyway? You'd still need to connect a hose to that drain valve and drain it into a jug. So, you still wind up with an oily hose and a container full of used oil. Plus, I know on my boat at least I couldn't easily keep the drain tube lower than the oil pan. Where's the benefit of the EZ oil valve?

Extractors usually do not remove all the oil, a gravity drain at the lowest part of the oil pan will allow more oil to flow out. As you note, this may not be easy for a sailboat as there is not much room under the oil pan to slide a container to catch the oil. That is the case with my boat, I can barely slide my hand under the oil pan. The transmission does have a drain that I'll use next time I change the fluid, there is more room under it and it is less than a quart.

Now that I have a box mounted to my yard trailer, it goes in there. Near the boat but not in it.

...
If your engine sits at an angle, with a prop shaft through the hull, the drain plug is probably not at the lowest point of the oil pan.

If I were to plumb both engines to a manifold and add an electric pump, I could pump directly into the waste oil container and fill both engines from a 5 gallon container or install a tank. Cap the hose and lay it around the pump. No mess at all. As it is, the drain on the Perkins is at the lowest point, which is sufficiently high enough to fill a gallon jug, so instead of a 5 gallon can of used oil, we have a few gallon jugs. That hose goes in a 1 gallon zip lock bag and in a drawer in the engine room.

Ah, well there you go. 2 engines. Room for a gallon jug. 5 gallons (?!) of used oil. All foreign problems for me. But, if I'm lucky they'll be problems for me to ponder at some point in the future. For now I'll just worry about 2L of oil in the motor and .3L of oil in the trans. Both changed annually with a vac pump that is then stored in the garage for 8 months or so... Sigh.

One of the few things I let the yard crew do is an annual oil change when the boat goes into storage. They drain the oil, change all filters, clean up any spillage, and properly dispose of the drained oil. No muss, no fuss. The only fluid loss is the ink to write the darned check... ( I used to do all my own maintenance work when I was younger, but at age 75 its a different story)

2 engines equals a propulsion engine and a genset. I wouldn't have a twin screw sailboat unless it was a Virginia Reel, the best of both worlds; a sailing boat and a sport fishing boat. lol
