Pearson P-31 Quantico
Thanks to everyone who has helped me as I recovered, restored, refurbished, and redid various parts on GOOD TRADE, my Grumman-built (yes, Grumman, I'd love to have sponsorship) , 31 foot, Pearson P-31, hull number 14. Thanks for the encouragement, materials, instruments, and great days of racing. Thanks dear Chesepeake PHRF association for the good rating on GOOD TRADE, btw.

With that said, does anyone know how the instruments are really supposed to work? I have manuals but the color coding does not match with the physical wire and the detail does not meet my ability to make heads or tales out of the reality of being cramped in the cabin trying to get everything working.

So, please, if you have a P-31 with older working instuments or know what the electronic signals should be down what wire, PLEASE let me know.

And to everyone, all the people so far so good to assist, and everyone so far putting up with this long-winded plea, again -- THANK YOU!

most of the time the readouts for instruments were simply milliamp meters with the dials marked for whatever function you were measuring.

Wiring Color Codes

Most builders should have (emphasis) used a color coding system. There's probably 85 websites that have this coding system listed.

One place I can point you is this one: http://www.c34.org/wiki/index.php?title=Engine_Harness_Upgrade

Click on the first diagram and print it out with the colors labeled.

Other than that, you simply have to trace the wires from one end to the other.

Teleflex has good gauge information on their website.
