How do I test my DCS after hooking up my VHS to my GPS

Hmmm, my VHF has the capability to use the MMSI # for DSC calling to other ships, groups, etc, w/out using the Distress button.

If yours has the same features, you can test it that way...check your manual.

Does your radio display GPS coordinates?

I would check to be sure you radio is receiving from your GPS first but norksailor is right, you need to find someone who has a DSC radio to test with the MMSI# (I haven't done this yet either). US Boat has a good section on DSC radios.
