How do I Install Oarlocks?

I have been advised to install oarlocks on my O'Day Javelin as an alternative to using a motor. Any suggestions on how to do this? I would guess that I should attach small blocks of wood to the sides of the boat in which to put the oarlocks. Any advice would be appreciated.

Reinforce the Area First

Glass in a piece of hardwood, such as oak in the spot where your locks will go. Once its setup drill out the oar lock tubes, and install the bronze tubes. Take a look at a custom row boat to give you ideas where it should be located and the shape of the oar lock wood blocks for aesthetic purposes. Good luck.Don
