How do I install a Boom Vang

I wish to install a boom vang on my 1986 25.5. How do I know where to hang the bail on the boom? What type of hardware do I use on the boom and mast?

The easiest way would be to buy one of the pre-rigged boom vang kits from West or BoatUS. You will need to install a bail on the boom about 1/3 of the way from the gooseneck. The mast base should have some type of attachment for a vang, if not you will have to install one there too. Use D-shackles or snap shackles to attach at both ends..
