I can tell you how, they got a divorce, he lost his job and now has to pay child support so someting has to give. The boat will not sell and now he is over a barrel so lower the price.
or
the wife survived the sailor and she has no idea of how much to sale it for.....

There are lots of reasons when the economy turns bad. Boats are the first thing to go in most cases.

I saw that about a month ago on here in the classifieds. I was looking for a 34-37 footer but after seeing that I thought how about a 40 footer. Then I thought about it and figured it was a typo. I never considered calling. Did I screw-up?

I notice the 1989 Hunter 44 ($18,900) is now gone as well so this was probably phoney.

A few months back I jumped on a 2003 Lagoon 42 Catamaran in Greece ... brand new listing at $129,000 USD. So did a hundred other people and the boat sold to a man from Belgium.

The Broker said the boat surveyed perfectly it was just that the seller wanted a fast sale. He got that!

Sometimes what seems to be too good to be true turns out to be true.

I don't know if anyone noticed but there was 5 or 4 boates forsale at real low prices and they all were from Orlando,Fl. Probably took the sewer system inland to get there.

"I think they might slip every-now-and-then but over all it is a great site. "

I agree! This site is wonderful and for someone like be (just getting started in sailing" it is a treasure trove of valuable information!

I was just suprised that some scammer would go to all the trouble to open an account and then post a $130,000 Hunter for $13,000 ... what's the point?

I've seen this on Craigslist and Ebay, cars and boats supposedly selling for way under book by a "grieving widow". There is usually a link to someone elses pictures of thier vessel/vehicle on a site like photobucket and no way to contact the owner thru the site.
The Ebay scams claim that the full payment will be held by Ebay finance until the buyer has received the vessel/vehicle and is happy with it.
The Nigerians are getting trickier.
