How can interrupted charger equalize?

When I turn on the charger breaker, the charger starts its routine beginning with bulk charge.
Side note: -even with full batts-

So if I'm going sailing every weekend, and of course disconnecting shorepower, how can the charger know when to equalize every month or so? Or if it even has this feature.
Charles 20 amp dual bank, about 6 years old. No info to answer this specific question in the manual.

It can't, which is why you leave it turned on. I left mine turned on all season and through the winter if we did not pull the boat. Just make sure that you monitor the water levels and set the temp (ambient) switch as the seasons change.

How can I leave it turned on when I'm disconnecting from shorepower every weekend to go sailing?

What does your manual say about equalizing? I doubt very much any charger has an automatic schedule that puts it into the equalize mode. Its usually manually initiated and by a combination of buttons that would not occur during normal course. During equalization, battery voltages go very high and you want to be sure the water level is ok and remove the caps. It will vent hydrogen and you will smell it. Open hatches and make sure all electrical loads are turned off..if your charger is capable of equalizing, they should have all the warnings etc in the manual..

Your charger does not equalize..
Well that answers it.

I'm wondering what people do who have one that does, if they leave the shore power regularly. Another said it might be done manually, but some systems are automatic.
Anyway that's a question others might ask. Mine's answered.
