With winter's cold and wet grip on most of our sailing activities, here's a video that may warm your blood. Composed of numerous photos and complimented by Jimmy Buffet songs, this video is about a May 2005 sailing trip during which time my sailing buddies and I spent nine days sailing between Pascagoula, Mississippi and Pensacola, Florida. While most of us sail singlehanded, one of our newest buddies had numerous visitors during the week. After a week of entertaining these folks he understood why the rest of us skippers perfer to sail alone...ah, peace and quiet..ain't it great? Visitor accomodations at the Inner Harbor are almost non-existant. There is one visitor slip/pumpout and the harbor master is real funny about folks staying too long. Living aboard full time is not permitted. Although it was a battle, I argued with the power company for four to five weeks after Katrina to fix a single transformer wire that had all marina power shut down. They finally agreed to restore power to the master breakers after being assured it wouldn't be turned on until the city had time to check out the damage. Well, once they restored power to the main breakers several of us boat owners flipped everything back on and we've been going full steam ever since. The city has done nothing to insure the dockside power distribution boxes are functional. I had a qualified electrican take my box apart and clean it out well...thankfully it has worked well since. If you've sailed the area described in my 'movie' then you know what a wonderful area to sail it really can be. Anchorages such as Ingram's Bayou, Robert's Bayou, and especially Big Lagoon are wonderful places to drop the hook. The Bridge
Everytime we visit family in the area we make a trip to Dauphin Island and go over that bridge. I always wonder, why aren't there MORE sailboats out there! (and wish we could shrink our boat into the trunk! I will think about you trip every time now! If you ever stop as Dauphin Isle, Barnacle Bill's (East side of Bridge) is a good place to eat, but I bet your own is better! If I have my story straigth, Hurricane Camille took out the bridge and it had to be rebuilt.

We were going to make that sail, departing from our home port of New Orleans in October of 2005...Katrina got in the way of that...Now that I have another boat, spring this year looks like a good time to go, but I need some reliable information on facilities and what I can expect on the route from the Rigoles to Mobile Bay...also, did you go outside to get into Big Lagoon?, or intercoastal into Perdido Bay? I've got a Gulfstar 37, 4'9" draft, 50 foot mast... Deep in the heart of the RNR Now I love livin' and sailin' in the south and that was a really great "teasing" video but it took me about half of it to realize that it was ALL guys, sorta big, really well fed guys with lotsa (uh)curves. Sailin', eatin', drinkin rum, fishin', sweatin', I know the rest.....really fun manly stuff, but wow I'd be livin' the dream with you except for the lack of any female curves........anywhere. The vid just needs a little eye relief to offset the captains of relaxation. My eyes still ache a little. Great music, great trip but I'm giving the video a 4 out of 5 for lack of any curvacious(or not) pirate women. Keep up the good work and don't stop working out The vids are getting better each time. I was docked up at Dog river for almost a year and went to Big Lagoon several times. Coming from farther west I wonder why you didn't stay outside?? I sailed around the "Island" with my wife. Day 1 . dog river and up to Ingram's bayou. Day two Ingram's to Fort McCree in big lagoon. Day 3 Outside to Mobile ships channel and spent the night in Navy Cove. Day 4 a fantastic sail back up to Dog River. The bottom of Mobile bay on the eastern side is so shallow and it is a pretty long motor to Perdido bay. The Bottom of the bay also gets rough with a north wind. We were lucky the night we spent in Navy Cove as there is little protection there. My last trip across the bottom of the bay west to east was pretty miserable. We motored into an east wind all day. A really vicous chop developed and the wind was on our nose. We had enjoyed that east wind the day before when we sailed south from Dog River to Navy cove. It was too rough to go outside that trip. But with a north wind it can be smoother outside than at the bottom. Great Video enjoyed it ,thanks

some comments.....I used Windows Movie Maker.....as for the women or lack of women....well, the trip has become a male 'get-away-from-home' thing. The lady you saw is the daughter-in-law of one of our sailing buddies. She and her husband spent two days with us. We perfer no women (well at least none our wives know about)...we drink, eat, belch, and let out all kinds of body gasses while laughing and having a good time. Remember...what you see, whay you do, and what you say....stays on the boat...that's our motto! So go have a good time and quit worrying about things! Some of you guys take things too seriously. Let's go sailing...._) _) _)
