Motor for Catalina 22

Ken, A 2 hp Evinrude will push a C-22, I am doing it right now. For around docks, think about F-N-R controls as a real positive. It doesn't take much. The 2 HP doubles on my inflatable.

C-22 Motor

If you're looking to buy a motor, get a Tohatsu 4 stroke, 4 H.P. This is the company that makes motors for Nissan. Same motor, lower price. It's quiet, environmentally friendly and doesn't need a remote tank, thought it has a fitting for one. The 3/4 gallon internal tank burns 4/10 gallon per hour at 3/4 throttle. That's almost 2 hours cruising range. Go to the link below. You can buy direct online and not pay sales tax. I bought one, it's great.

How small?

I've used a 3.5 HP on my Catalina 22 and have had no problems motoring at 5 knots on bays and rivers, although I normally use an 8HP.

4-6 HP

I found that 4 HP pushes the C22 fine. I can't imagine ever needing more than a 6 HP. A 4 or 5 HP 4 stroke would be my first choice. Pete

Go electric

I use a 35lb thrust electric to get me around, never had a problem, use a solar charger and you never have to buy fuel again...

Thanks to all who offered help.I tried a 2hp honda as tomD suggested and found it to meet all my needs, but I would want at least a 4hp if I were ever in a hurry(which I never am).So a 2hp it is for now .The price is great. Thanks again Ken
