I am planning to paing my decks. I am guessing about 70% will be non-skid and grey. The other portions will be white. I have heard that pure white is not a good idea for a deck color - it is hard on the eyes. My foredeck will be mostly non-skid grey. I was planning on using pure white for my topsides, and would buy enough to do the small portions of the deck too - any thoughts? Thanks!

....it's fine. I used to do my wood boat like you describe and it was fine. Of course, I was younger then and now I have to wear glasses. (In the interests of full disclosure <smile>) Rick D.

How to cut the gloss

Ahoy Deeman; Are you going to use Awlgrip for your deck? I did my white areas and took the gloss out of the paint with baby powder. Use the kind without any additives. The nice smell is ok. It is about a dollar a bottle. Mix it in with the awlgrip and keep adding until the desired reduction of sheen. You can see it doing the job while stiring. It takes about 6 tablespoons of powder to 6 oz. of paint. I bought the stuff to do the job from Awlgrip and is was 14.00 per the same size bottle. Fair Winds Cap'n Dave

sounds good!

Many thanks - I will try the powder trick! I assume regular talcum powder will work...as mentioned without additives.
