I agree
Les,that was my fisrt sailboat also. It was a great boat.It had a 160 genoa that was cut so perfectly for the boat that I regularly out ran 272 ODay wing keels and 25 catalina swing keels. It did depended on the conditions but it was fast.I could never get it to take on water as it rounds-up into the wind when I had too much sail up for the wind conditions. It had only two down falls for me. Though it has more head room than just about anyother 23, after a weekend I was tired of bending over. The second is the centerboard housing. Not an uncommon problem, but it is a cast iron keel and cast iron expands as it rusts. This rust traps the fiberglass center board from dropping out of the housing. It is an easily corrected problem if you can find a hiost and scrape out the inside of the housing. I always pulled my centerboard up if I was not sailing. There is less stress on it when the boat rolls. I think it is a good first boat choice.r.w.landau
