House Battery OD26

Oday 26 Gloucester
Just bought an Oday 26 a few weeks ago. Started working on the boat for a launch and "BAM" threw my back out. It's been a week and I have not been able to work on the boat. Oh well with that aside. I was thinking of mounting the house battery in the compartment behind the companionway steps. It looks like the ideal place for a AGM battery or 2.

I do not have access to the boat right now. Can anyone who has a 26 and is on the boat provide me the dimensions of this space? While I'm layed up I have a ton of time to research batteries.

Mike: read Maine Sails info regarding batteries before you buy batteries. Chief

Is this the same compartment that has the sink drain thru hull? It is on my O'day 25.
I wouldn't want something as heavy as a battery anywhere near a thru hull. If it were to break loose somehow I am sure the thru hull would lose.
Hopefully your 26 is laid out different.

It is not the same under the sink. It is a separate locker behind the steps. Looks like a storage locker with removable top cover.

Sounds like a great place for your batteries. Sorry I can't help with the size. Hope you back heals quickly.

I have an 84 oday 26 with a 1gm. My house battery is under the port quarter birth. Sorry I don't have the dimensions. I'm not at the boat. However the battery is big.
