There is an hour meter located on the panel board where the battery switch is located. Wis this metering and when does it record? Also, I have one starting battery and four house batteries. If I take the lead off the starting battery positive connection, whether the battery switch is on "one" or "two" the DC volt meter at the nav station always shows voltage. It only goes to zero volts when the battery switch is "off". I didn't wire the batteries. Does this mean the two battery banks are not isolated from each other?

Our boat has an hour meter that begins...

to record time whenever the ignition switch is turned on. That way you can tell how many hours the engine has been running. Regarding your house bank question, if I understand it, I would say your reading indicates that the house bank is isolated from your starter bank. Terry
