I have not been able to get hot water on our 2009 Beneteau. Neither electric or engine. Owners manual has zero info on the water system. Any suggestions, is there any kind of reference anyone knows of? Thanks, T
A winterization bypass would be my guess too. I don’t think Beneteau had those from the factory, but a previous owner may have added one and left it in the winterization mode. Trace the plumbing and see if you can find it. There should be a thermostatic mixing valve but then you’ll probably also find the bypass.
[/QUOTE} Thanks - I am beginning to wonder whether there is water in the hot water tank as well. The first time I turned on the electric water heater all electrics on the boat shut down. Took a while to find the (undocumented) blown breaker under the starboard cabin bench. Then I discovered a reset switch under a plastic panel on the h/w tank and re set that. But still no hot water. I can feel hot water going from the engine to the h/w tank, but no impact on water temp. So, maybe prob is no water in the tank. I am inexperienced with boat plumbing, was hoping there was some kind of reference material avail. Will keep plugging away.
Hi... thanks. Embarassed to say had not considered the obvious. Will go over system again. Find the plumbing system a bit confusing. Are you sure the tank has water in it . Maybe it was bypassed to winterize it.
Not so hard:Find the plumbing system a bit confusing.
It's usually a hose connecting the hot and cold together bypassing the tank .Uncouple and one goes to cold input blue or blue striped hose and the other red or red striped goes to output hot water.Hi... thanks. Thanks, will do. I've done a little digging on West Marine, other internet resources re freshwater systems. Now that I have seen several diagrams its making a bit more sense. I will tackle it again and post a few photos for any input forum can provide. It's usually a hose connecting the hot and cold together bypassing the tank .Uncouple and one goes to cold input blue or blue striped hose and the other red or red striped goes to output hot water.
Take a picture of front of tank and hoses and post
Thanks have had a look; good basic explanation; also found reference on BoatUS. Will be back at boat tomorrow looking for possible bypass valve.
Please note, there may not be but a single "by pass valve." There are many ways to bypass the water heater for winterization purposes. Bypass kits usually include two valves. I just disconnect the water heater and install a specially made bypass hose to take its place. So, look closely, maybe even make a diagram, before jumping in.Thanks have had a look; good basic explanation; also found reference on BoatUS.
